United States authorities detained the better half of jailed Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman on Monday at Dulles International Airport beyond Washington, the Justice Department stated.
Emma Coronel Aispuro, 31, faces one charge of conspiracy to traffic drug, methamphetamine, heroin and cannabis for importation into the United States, it stated.
Guzman was the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, among Mexico’s many infamous drag trafficking groups.
He ran an operation that provided numerous lots of narcotics into the United States and lagged numerous murders of those who crossed him, according to court filings.
He was extradited to the United States in 2017 to stand trial, and was founded guilty and sentenced to life in jail two years later.
